Welcome to Bradford County Paws

We are a non profit organization formed in January of 2006 to assist the Bradford County Sheriff office with their animal control. We provide an adoption program for animal control and try to save as many animals as possible from being euthanized at the local shelter through awareness, offsite adoptions and rescue groups

PET OF THE WEEK - WINSTON!

Winston is a wonderful shepherd mix that has been with us now for several months. He has a great disposition and just loves life to the fullest. He was rescued from animal control when he was very young and has been bounced from foster home to boarding kennel (no fault of his) and really just wants to have a forever home and a family of his own.

He was adopted one time, but returned because he is not completely housebroken and the family had a toddler they were already trying to "housebreak" so it wasn't working. He absolutely loved their kids and was very gentle with the baby.

Winston himself, really is just a big baby who needs someone to be patient with him and work with him and he will be the best dog in the world. If that person is you please give us a call.

Great success story - Please meet Beau aka Bo Bo

I got an email from Beau today:

I have brothers and sisters now and plenty of people that love me. I especially love the king size bed!!! I seem to spend a lot of time there and it is real comfortable at night when my mommy is there. I have a backyard where I am safe and I can hunt lizards. I keep a close eye on the house and I am now officially in charge of security. I get to go for a lot of car rides and I have even made new friends at the dog park. All my boo boos have healed and I am good as new. I still love to be cradled and my mommy and daddy give me lots of tummy rubs and love me very much. I even get chicken from daddy, but don't tell mommy.

Thanks Kelly and Mike for sharing and giving Beau such a great new lease on life!

For those of you that spoke or emailed with me yesterday you will know what a panic we were in to get this poor girl out to rescue. She began having her puppies right at the shelter yesterday morning!

Well, by noon yesterday we had her off to a safe place until we could get her transported to rescue today.

Today we are happy to report we transported mom and 8, yes, 8 pups!

Thank you South Lake Animal League for helping Oreo! www.slal.org

MANDATORY SPAY/NEUTER ORDINANCE PASSES IN VOLUSIA COUNTY

COME ON FLORIDA LET'S GET THIS PASSED IN EVERY COUNTY!

DELAND -- The Volusia County Council approved a new ordinance requiring owners to spay or neuter their pets.

The county approved the ordinance with a 5-2 vote Wednesday.

Last year, nearly 21,000 unwanted animals were euthanized by the Southeast Volusia and Halifax Humane societies.

Some members of the county council said the ordinance will cut down on the number of animals put down.

However, some pet breeders said the ordinance infringes on their livelihood, while other pet owners said they can't afford to spay or neuter their pets.
